¿Õ»ó 12: 23 "Say to Rehoboam son of Solomon king of Judah, to the whole house of

Judah and Benjamin, and to the rest of the people,

¿Õ»ó 12: 24 'This is what the LORD says: Do not go up to fight against your

brothers, the Israelites. Go home, every one of you, for this is my

doing.'" So they obeyed the word of the LORD and went home again, as

the LORD had ordered.

¿Õ»ó 12: 25 Then Jeroboam fortified Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim and

lived there. From there he went out and built up Peniel.

¿Õ»ó 12: 26 Jeroboam thought to himself, "The kingdom will now likely revert to

the house of David.

¿Õ»ó 12: 27 If these people go up to offer sacrifices at the temple of the LORD

in Jerusalem, they will again give their allegiance to their lord,

Rehoboam king of Judah. They will kill me and return to King

Rehoboam."

¿Õ»ó 12: 28 After seeking advice, the king made two golden calves. He said to

the people, "It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem. Here are

your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt."

¿Õ»ó 12: 29 One he set up in Bethel, and the other in Dan.

¿Õ»ó 12: 30 And this thing became a sin; the people went even as far as Dan to

worship the one there.

¿Õ»ó 12: 31 Jeroboam built shrines on high places and appointed priests from all

sorts of people, even though they were not Levites.

¿Õ»ó 12: 32 He instituted a festival on the fifteenth day of the eighth month,

like the festival held in Judah, and offered sacrifices on the

altar. This he did in Bethel, sacrificing to the calves he had made.

And at Bethel he also installed priests at the high places he had

made.

¿Õ»ó 12: 33 On the fifteenth day of the eighth month, a month of his own

choosing, he offered sacrifices on the altar he had built at Bethel.

So he instituted the festival for the Israelites and went up to the

altar to make offerings.

practices of the nations the LORD had driven out before the

¿ÕÇÏ 21: 3 He rebuilt the high places his father Hezekiah had destroyed; he

also erected altars to Baal and made an Asherah pole, as Ahab king

of Israel had done. He bowed down to all the starry hosts and

¿ÕÇÏ 21: 4 He built altars in the temple of the LORD, of which the LORD had

said, "In Jerusalem I will put my Name."

¿ÕÇÏ 21: 5 In both courts of the temple of the LORD, he built altars to all the

starry hosts.

¿ÕÇÏ 21: 6 He sacrificed his own son in the fire, practiced sorcery and

divination, and consulted mediums and spiritists. He did much evil

in the eyes of the LORD, provoking him to anger.

¿ÕÇÏ 21: 7 He took the carved Asherah pole he had made and put it in the

temple, of which the LORD had said to David and to his son Solomon,

"In this temple and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the

tribes of Israel, I will put my Name forever.

¿ÕÇÏ 21: 8 I will not again make the feet of the Israelites wander from the

land I gave their forefathers, if only they will be careful to do

everything I commanded them and will keep the whole Law that my

servant Moses gave them."

¿ÕÇÏ 21: 9 But the people did not listen. Manasseh led them astray, so that

they did more evil than the nations the LORD had destroyed before

the Israelites.

¿ÕÇÏ 10: 18 Then Jehu brought all the people together and said to them, "Ahab

¿ÕÇÏ 10: 19 Now summon all the prophets of Baal, all his ministers and all his

priests. See that no one is missing, because I am going to hold a

great sacrifice for Baal. Anyone who fails to come will no longer

live." But Jehu was acting deceptively in order to destroy the

ministers of Baal.

¿ÕÇÏ 10: 20 Jehu said, "Call an assembly in honor of Baal." So they proclaimed it.

¿ÕÇÏ 10: 21 Then he sent word throughout Israel, and all the ministers of Baal

came; not one stayed away. They crowded into the temple of Baal

until it was full from one end to the other.

¿ÕÇÏ 10: 22 And Jehu said to the keeper of the wardrobe, "Bring robes for all

the ministers of Baal." So he brought out robes for them.

¿ÕÇÏ 10: 23 Then Jehu and Jehonadab son of Recab went into the temple of Baal.

Jehu said to the ministers of Baal, "Look around and see that no

servants of the LORD are here with you--only ministers of Baal."

ȲÇÏ 10: 24 So they went in to make sacrifices and burnt offerings. Now Jehu had

posted eighty men outside with this warning: "If one of you lets any

of the men I am placing in your hands escape, it will be your life

for his life."

¿ÕÇÏ 10: 25 As soon as Jehu had finished making the burnt offering, he ordered

the guards and officers: "Go in and kill them; let no one escape."

So they cut them down with the sword. The guards and officers threw

the bodies out and then entered the inner shrine of the temple of

Baal.

¿ÕÇÏ 10: 26 They brought the sacred stone out of the temple of Baal and burned it.

¿ÕÇÏ 10: 27 They demolished the sacred stone of Baal and tore down the temple of

¿ÕÇÏ 10: 28 So Jehu destroyed Baal worship in Israel.

down from the temple of the LORD. They went into the palace through

the Upper Gate and seated the king on the royal throne,

´ëÇÏ 23: 21 and all the people of the land rejoiced. And the city was quiet,

because Athaliah had been slain with the sword.

´ëÇÏ 29: 25 He stationed the Levites in the temple of the LORD with cymbals,

harps and lyres in the way prescribed by David and Gad the king's

seer and Nathan the prophet; this was commanded by the LORD through

his prophets.

´ëÇÏ 29: 26 So the Levites stood ready with David's instruments, and the priests

with their trumpets.

´ëÇÏ 29: 27 Hezekiah gave the order to sacrifice the burnt offering on the

altar. As the offering began, singing to the LORD began also,

accompanied by trumpets and the instruments of David king of Israel.

´ëÇÏ 29: 28 The whole assembly bowed in worship, while the singers sang and the

trumpeters played. All this continued until the sacrifice of the

burnt offering was completed.

´ëÇÏ 29: 29 When the offerings were finished, the king and everyone present with

him knelt down and worshiped.

´ëÇÏ 29: 30 King Hezekiah and his officials ordered the Levites to praise the

LORD with the words of David and of Asaph the seer. So they sang

praises with gladness and bowed their heads and worshiped.

·¹ 10: 1 Aaron's sons Nadab and Abihu took their censers, put fire in them

and added incense; and they offered unauthorized fire before the

LORD, contrary to his command.

·¹ 10: 2 So fire came out from the presence of the LORD and consumed them,

and they died before the LORD.

·¹ 10: 3 Moses then said to Aaron, "This is what the LORD spoke of when he

said: "'Among those who approach me I will show myself holy; in the

sight of all the people I will be honored.'" Aaron remained silent.

·¹ 10: 4 Moses summoned Mishael and Elzaphan, sons of Aaron's uncle Uzziel,

and said to them, "Come here; carry your cousins outside the camp,

away from the front of the sanctuary."

·¹ 10: 5 So they came and carried them, still in their tunics, outside the

camp, as Moses ordered.

·¹ 10: 6 Then Moses said to Aaron and his sons Eleazar and Ithamar, "Do not

let your hair become unkempt, and do not tear your clothes, or you

will die and the LORD will be angry with the whole community. But

your relatives, all the house of Israel, may mourn for those the

LORD has destroyed by fire.

·¹ 10: 7 Do not leave the entrance to the Tent of Meeting or you will die,

because the LORD'S anointing oil is on you." So they did as Moses

said.
